Founded by Doug “Bix” Biederbeck in 1988, Bix is an updated jazz supper club – a stylish, sophisticated restaurant and bar with the feel of a speakeasy that has become a beloved San Francisco dining institution. Bix offers refined cuisine that is market-driven and crafted from the best available products. The food at Bix continues to evolve while remaining anchored to its supper club roots under the direction of Chef De Cuisine Edward Higgins, overseen by Executive Chef and Co-owner Bruce Hill.
Bix is housed in a 110-year-old brick building in a romantic alley in San Francisco’s charming Jackson Square district. A lone neon sign leads into a soaring room of fluted columns, mahogany paneling, plush banquettes and iconic artwork. Renowned Bay Area architect Michael Guthrie designed the space, and has created a timeless, elegant atmosphere in the 100-seat restaurant.
